With technology advancing at such a rapid pace, it can be hard for anyone to keep up with all of the new phones, tablets, laptops, software, and many other innovations. That being said, there are some great new products on the market, and it can be very worthwhile to try and learn how to use these products and incorporate them into your life. An example of this is the use of iPads as note-taking devices. While I myself don’t have an iPad, many of my classmates use them as better alternatives to a notebook. A few years ago, the idea of using a pencil to take notes on a tablet screen would have sounded far-fetched. In today’s world, it will be hard to find a class that doesn’t have at least one student without one. This is just one example of how keeping up with new technological advances can be greatly beneficial.

Resources like Skillfulsenior help seniors overcome the initial barrier of learning about new technology. It can be overwhelming to keep up with all of the new technology, and if you don’t have the same baseline knowledge as everyone else, it can be even harder to pick up how to use some of the techs. Skillfulsenior has a variety of resources to help seniors learn about technology, ranging from courses about basic computer skills like using the mouse and keyboard, to typing games, to learn about discounts online, to more advanced topics like talking about home tech products that elderly people living on their own can buy.

Aside from learning about how to use the products themselves, navigating through different applications and particularly social media applications can be quite difficult as well. The resource TechBoomers tackles this issue and has an article about different social media sites like Pinterest, Twitter, Instagram, Facebook and Linkedin. Each article talks about what the purpose of the social media site is, how it works, how to use it and how it can be beneficial to the user. Social media can be a great tool to connect with friends online, find people with similar interests, and keep up with current events and the current culture. Oftentimes social media sites are targeted toward younger people; however, seniors can also benefit from the positive aspects of social media. This is why TechBoomers can be a really helpful resource. TechBoomers can be accessed using this link:
